travel with intention ~ capture genuine moments ~ feed your wanderlust
It seems that everyone, whether they’ve travelled the world or never left their hometown, either fantasizes or reminisces about experiencing something that no one they know has. We’re searching for something genuine, real, pure; a truly authentic experience in a world full of the utterly contrived. The problem is that these unique moments don’t simply fall into our laps, we have to pursue them with some degree of urgency. Because we must venture outside of our comfort zone to do so, for many, these experiences are few and far between. The truth is, it doesn’t have to be that way. In my experience, there are practical things one can do to increase the possibility of enjoying and capturing the exceedingly elusive ‘authentic experience’. Through this blog, I endeavor to further explore this idea and share my discoveries with you.
If I were you, at this point, I’d be asking who is this guy and what makes him a credible source on the subject? I am an American expat who gave up my middle class suburban life, sold my house and most everything else and moved my family to Myanmar, a country I knew very little about at the time. I largely did this in pursuit of the very thing many of us are seeking: authentic experiences. It has been about ten years now. I have lived in 5 countries, travelled throughout many more and enjoyed countless unique, genuine, extraordinary and fulfilling moments. While I’m happy to share many of them, ultimately my goal is to see you create and uncover your own.
